Leinie's brand is 2009`s top new craft beer

The Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. of Chippewa Falls said that its latest year-round product, Leinenkugel's Classic Amber, was the top-selling new craft beer brand in the United States in 2009.

The ranking is based on data from supermarket sales monitor The Nielsen Co.

Available on draft and in bottles, Leinenkugel’s Classic Amber was launched nationwide in March 2009. Classic Amber, which beat out Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams 2009 launches in the Nielsen rankings, gained significant on- and off-premise placements during the brew’s launch period which resulted in substantial nationwide distribution for the new brew, the brewer said Jan. 15.

Leinenkugel’s began distributing its brews nationwide in 2006. Leinenkugel’s Classic Amber is the brewer’s first year-round beer launch since Sunset Wheat in 2006, when Leinenkugel's began to distribute its brews nationwide.

The Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. is a subsidiary of Miller coors LLC, the brewing joint venture comprising Miller Brewing Co. of Milwaukee and Coors Brewing Co. of Golden, Colo.
